Morricone - I Crudeli

Score to a Corbucci western, recent reissue on UK label Bella Casa who have gotten into the OST LP game recently with this release and the Piccioni Fumo di Londra. You'll recognize Morricone's main trumpet theme from the ending of Django Unchained:

Liner note: "Il Maestro's soundtrack is an impressive conglomeration of mournful trumpets, nervous guitars and percussive, sometimes atonal atmosphere pieces which establish a suitably tense mood. Alessandroni's I Cantori Moderni decorate the score with their characteristically eclectic vocal flourishes."

Le Mépris OST - Georges Delerue & Piero Piccioni


The Delerue tracks are on side A and are beautiful orchestrals like this one:

The Piccioni tracks are sides B, C & D, with gorgeous numbers like 'Against':

Piccioni recycles his main theme from The 10th Victim but gives it a more chill vibe.

Deaf I love the Easter selection lol.

I have such vivid memories when I see that original Maniac artwork. Flashbacks of my youth...such a powerful poster. I accidentally saw the film late one night on cable when I was about 9 or ten. I remember watching some scenes with hands over my face. While I should not have scene a movie like that at my young age...glad I did. Those early experiences, of be so affected by film are rare, and that window of time is short. I treasure those moments of being truly scared. :)

@texas my man! Thanks for reminding me about this cool release, I'd forgotten Doxy were doing this. I also picked up their recent Truffaut/Delerue release. I'm pretty sure these Doxy's are straight up using the CD / CD master as source, but as someone who now doesn't own a single CD I'm glad to have such things at all frankly! (And if the audiophile snobs only knew what the source of many of these new OST re-issues are, it'd give em pause for sure!)

@Evan - A veritable shotgun blast through the windshield of your adolescent mind? :)

I had a few similar experiences at a young age, even with some TV shows. The "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" episode of The Twilight Zone scared the hell out of me when I was a little kid. I also remember an episode of Amazing Stories with some kind of "guppie" monster hiding in the closet that terrified me. Even the hairy sewer monster from Big Trouble in Little China freaked me out when I first saw that movie. Really fond memories of the thrill of being that scared by something.

Nothing has ever got to me like The Exorcist though. Fucking hell.

LOL!!! There's an LP? I thought this was just a single. My favorite part is how the B side is the same song cut backwards. What a fuckin weird novelty record, only in the 60s!
