Re-watched Interstellar last night on Blu-Ray. It is amazing how much of the film is lost in that format. The other time I saw the movie was in 70mm IMAX, and it was as close to a life altering experience as a movie can offer. And it sadly just doesn't translate the same on a widescreen format where the sheer force of Nolan's visuals is missing. It made me a bit sad, as the chance of the 70mm reel making another appearance is likely zero.

Much of the film's emotional resonance remaining in the Blu-Ray is due to Zimmer's score. I don't think it's a stretch to say this is the best score yet from Zimmer and maybe the best he'll ever compose.

I bought the 2015 and must say that it sounds very poor. Lots of noise and strange fade/outs. Probably my last Doxy album....

@Occhionero - Agreed. Just brought it home today from my local brick'n'mortar. It's terrible. I can without hesitation say that this is THE worst record I have ever listened to.
Especially in the passages with the wellknown 'knife sections' where the shrillness is simply unbearable. Generally it just sounds as if there is a pillow in front of my speakers.
Glad I kept the reciept. Will try and get something else instead. This guy has tons of cool STBC related material in his shop.

Black Milk - No Poison No Paradise



Rapper/producer Black Milk is one of those people whose work behind the scenes garners more attention than his career as an artist.
Black Milk tells great stories, combined with the wordplay he is known for. On songs like Sunday's Best, he tells the story of how his father would get him up for church on Sunday's, when he "would rather be home video gaming." It's honest, relatable words to almost anyone. The production is excellent. Sounds like something Dilla would have produced. Deeply layered, soulful beats. Black Milk produced all but one of these songs. It's a very introspective, revealing record that peers into Black Milks earlier life and what his future holds.

Can someone recommend a site where I can take some brief samples of the Psycho pressing so you can hear it? I created a SoundCloud account and uploaded a clip consisting of a few seconds of each track. Soundcloud immediatly flagged my account for copyright infringement. What happened to the concept of "fair use"?

I think Psycho is a clean pressing of a poor original recording which may have a lot of deterioration. So there is a lot of tape noise, the tape noise "warbles" in places (probably some side effect of trying to clean up the recording), but there is no noise from the pressing itself. Is there a clean source of the original Psycho music? I wonder if the upcoming 7" for RSD sounds any different.

@texasvinyl If i had to guess I'd say the RSD 7" is going to be the one Herrmann re-recorded for the unicorn release. Which means it's not going to be near the same tempo as the original version from the Doxy record.

Pretty nice rendition of Psycho suite on this . Conducted by herrmann too, guessing not the same recording used in the film but sounds good.

Should be able to pick this up for pennies.

@Occhionero-Thanks for the heads up on this Doxy release. I was out record shopping Saturday and found this copy in the soundtrack bin for $21 dollars. I passed on it. I did read your posts on this Psycho release Saturday evening. I think this release falls into the area where the copyright has been lifted in certain parts of the world and anybody can just put it out.
