Say what you want but I'm so happy with my set, the original vinyl sounds very good to me, nothing wrong, really!. I've listened so many times, I'm happy for you to finally own a copy of such a beautiful ost!

Got my copy today from Acoustic Sounds. The sleeve is one of the thinnest I have come across in years. There is a single page insert with some write up by Chris Nolan on how the music writing process started.

Coming to the vinyl, sounds good but has a lot of static mainly due to the paper sleeve it comes in. Side one had a few pops n clicks. But Mombasa (last track on side 1) sounds amazing. Now playing Side 2 and the sound is much better. So I guess it will improve with cleaning.



EDIT: Just finished Side 2 and the brass pieces sound out of this world. The bass is just perfect. Not too overpowering. Just wish the pressing was quieter.

I just got my copy of Inception from SoundStageDirect today and I have to say compared to the original pressing this sounds amazing. I went through three copies of the original trying to find a quiet one and had zero luck. Either the stampers were f'ed or the quality of the vinyl used was crap (almost constant ocean noise through out the majority of side 1 and lots of pops and clicks, even after multiple cleanings they remained)

This repress sounds inky black by comparison. If you're on the fence buy it.

walked home for lunch to find mine waiting for me. Wont be able to clean and spin it till the weekend. I still have an original so maybe I will do a comparison.

Agree, Inception is sounding great here. Also props to Acoustic Sounds for excellent packaging.

Is there anything on the Inception sleeve or vinyl that indicates it's the new pressing? My copy has not arrived yet, but I have a friend who picked up a sealed copy that has a new hype sticker covering up an old one, and side two of his copy is pretty noisy. He was trying to figure out if it's actual a repress or found stock.

@deafmetal Nope. The barcode, catalog number, insert, labels, pressing info on the sleeve, and hype sticker are all the same as the original.

The runout info may be different but I don't have the original pressing anymore so I can't say for sure.

My copy of Inception arrived today and I have to say it's a splendid pressing. Therefore it would seem unlikely to be found stock of the first pressing if anyone was still entertaining that theory.

So glad I didn't buy static's copy a while back, I was thinking about it

And no extra hype stickers here.

Ok, thank you for the responses. I received a copy of Inception from the Marvelio amazon seller yesterday (with only one hype sticker). It looks and sounds minty fresh to me. The paper sleeve has that "fresh off the press" look to it as well. I am going to compare the run-out numbers with my friend to see if there are any discrepancies with his version. He said side one on his copy was perfect, so I am guessing he has a new repress. No idea about the sticker thing he is describing though.

@deafmetal, I compared the new release to my original and everything is the same, numbers in the deadwax are all the same. The only difference I notice is the label on the new release is more black than my original. My original is more of a dull grayish black and the new one is deep black with a tiny bit of shine. Single sticker on my new copy.
