@spun, good call. I forgot all about that one. An interesting film - in some ways Carpenter made a very similar film in Halloween, but perfectly. The remake however... worse than Rob Zombie's Halloween.

I haven't seen Christmas Evil all the way through, nor SD, DN at all (but I NEED to see Sleigh Rider in its original context!).

Two great Christmas releases from DW.

@Chief, welcome back indeed. I'd certainly be up for more sync'd action, and as of yet, all the dates would be possible. The last viewings were attended by fewer and fewer people, but they were still fun to do.
The most pragmatic thing might be to ask people to sign up for a specific time and aim at a certain number of participants, as before, for the screening to be organized.

I would like to see this club continue synced viewings. Good idea to queue up a Christmas-themed film.

Just an update post appealing for anyone else interested in a Christmas special. We only have 5 so far.

Anyone else interested, or has the Club had its time?

I think we should aim for 3rd or 10th December. If you can make it, let me know.

Cheers.

I will do my best to attend. Always enjoyed the other syncs. It's a great excuse to watch some great movies. Maybe we should open the doors as to what can be nominated for the sync? for example films with great osts that haven't been reissued. Im sure with our collective knowledge we would have an invaluable list to choose from.

I think there's enough interest to organise a sync. I don't know what calendar I was looking at for my previous post, but the Sundays would be the 6th or 13th.

@dollar, I think once we've got Christmas out of the way we should just open it up to suggestions as you suggest.

If we go for the 6th, 10pm UK time, does anyone have any objections?

Let's vote on the film, based on suggestions so far.

Cheers.

Black Xmas is such a great film, amazing coup for WW to be releasing Zittrer's superb music score.

Let's hope this paves way for more from this under-released composer! (and I'm gonna go ahead and suggest that the "early, 100% electronic score" which WW teased as a future release will be Zittrer's 'Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things' ;)

Great idea, great film.

I've never paid much attention to the score, so I'll have the chance on Sunday. It had also escaped my notice that Waxwork were releasing this on Friday.

Waxwork were teasing it until now, but looks like it was officially confirmed today.

If we're all on for Black Christmas this Sunday, shall we start a dedicated sync thread to let the wider populace know, like we did on the old forum? I would guess the release of the score on vinyl might fire up a few more takers who might not regularly tune into the STBC movie club thread...?

I was thinking of trying to arrange a sync in February. My suggestion is the 21st or 28th.  My personal preference is for a 9pm UK time start, however if the general preference is 10pm, we'll stick with that.

If you're up for it, will you please post the following info to keep it 'simple' (delete as appropriate!):

Date: I can do the 21st/I can do the 28th/I can do either date.
Time: 9pm is fine by me/I'd rather stick with 10pm
Film: voting starts now with a blank slate - feel free to nominate anything (even if it's been nominated before), or place a vote for someone else's nom.

I hope we can get a good turnout. I'll start the ball rolling.

Date: I can do either date.
Time: 9pm is fine by me.
Nomination: Pieces (Dir. Juan Piquer Simón)

Hi guys, im up for another sync
21st or 28th is good for me.

Surely we should watch

The Man Who Fell To Earth.

Brilliant film, brilliant music, brilliant Bowie!

Either time is good for me.

Sorry I've neglected this for a while. Let's go for the 28th, and we'll stick to 10pm UK time.

So far we've had just 4 votes:
The Man Who Fell to Earth - 3
Pieces - 1

Any more votes?

I'm not a massive Bowie fan, nor a fan of musicians pretending to be actors, but when the Club speaks, I listen, and you haven't let me down yet!

The man who fell to earth is surprisingly brilliant, I haven't seen it for a while though. Everytime I watch it Bowie becomes my role model for the next few months.

28th is good for me as I'm not working the day after, however any other 10pm sunday may not be good for me as my new place of work means a stupidly early commute.
