To be fair, one label's word isn't really proof, but some of the trappings of their label and releases do seem bootlegesque.

Help me out here, what are you all picking up on with the Fifth Dimension releases to know they are suspect/boots? I only have the Jungle Obsession, but nothing caught my eye other than a lack of liner notes.

deaf, there was a post on the sonor facebook, calling out fifth dimension for not licensing anything, ie bootlegging.

it wasn't specific about one release.

perhaps sonor is privy to more info, as it is a pretty bold statement to make publicly otherwise.

It's SONOR who posted about it though. check their post from Jan28th. They say they know because the right owners haven't licensed the music. Maybe sonor wanted to get some of those licenses ?


BTW. I caved in and bought the two new Intervallo, and also (and that was always gonna happen) the Macchi box from cinedelic. Library music collecting at the same time as collecting soundtrack, is hell for my wallet.

Somewhat of an odd record by Franco Tamponi. The tracks on the B side are all traditional/folk Italian instrumental and don't interest me very much, but there are several intriguing songs on the A side. They are kind of a mix of traditional themes with experimental, drama, suspense and even horror-esque elements.

My favorite part is when a really pleasant and peaceful track "serenade in Venice" transitions into "Venice dying." Elements of the former melody remain but are drenched in tension and foreboding, and though the notes are the same gone is any sign of the cheerful optimism; only gloom remains.

It probably isn't the most essential title on the Sermi label, but it is worth investigating should you cross paths with a copy at some point.

@Texas, the Franco Tamponi is nice but one should not spend more than 30€ for it. the price on discogs is overhyped.

speaking of Franco Tamponi. there is another one on the infamous Sermi label that is kind of overlooked. funnily it is in the same style as the Le Regioni Vol.1 ( where's Vol. 2 by the way? :-) )

the B side is more romantic pastoral stuff but much better than Le Regioni. the B side is amazing. you get the mysterious creepy stuff like you know it from Mondo Inquieto by Umiliani. especially the6+ minutes long composition Ombre is a beast. it sounds like a mix of the the baddest scenes from John Barry's Thunderball and You Only Live Twice. really nice.

get it when you see a copy arround but don't pay too much...

Been wanting that percussions lp for a long time.
I know the double you mention on liuto, I remember it having a very nice cover, typical for an italian library :) I remember a copy quite a few years ago going for a few hundred on ebay, and no I dont have a copy. I do have an og of todays sound on liuto though.

I totally agree, I always thought the label had a kind of 70's hippie vibe to it :)
I can vaguely remember audio clips from freesound 7, kind of similar to devils train from what I remember. Needs a reissue!! Or actual issue rather!

I am very happy right now with this reissue on Schema.

I have been chasing this album for quite a while and I get absolutely destroyed on every auction (Conroy/Carosello/Top Tape), and even for the older reissue on Easy Tempo. It is great to have a nice copy with the original Carosello artwork/sleeve. Also, very interesting to see the notes on the obi strip were pulled from the album listing/description at Dusty Groove. It's a small world out there. :)

@Mateo - I was the one who posted about it in this thread. I had no idea it was being pressed until I saw it show up at DG.

@Dollarhyde - The pressing sounds great to me, and I am not hearing any of the problems that supposedly plagued the crappy (unofficial?) Golden Pavilion pressing. I have not heard any OG copies to compare, but by all accounts this is a solid effort. The spindle hole was a bit tight on my copy, but it should loosen up with a few spins.

Time to pop the champagne. The beloved Cometa pizza box just arrived (yes, it really was a pizza box, which explains all the corner dings):

The irony here is that Death Waltz announced, released, and shipped the Micalizzi OST all within the time it took for Cometa to process my order and for it to trek across the continents. Haha, oh well. I'm fine with having a backup copy as the music is fantastic.

Also, I always order t-shirts from Europe one size too large since we US folk are "big". Fits perfectly. :-)
