Had a table at the Dallas Record Show yesterday but found time to do some shopping with part of my earnings. The Can record and the Rotary Connection are still sealed. Spinning the Willie Hutch this morning, and it's an absolutely killer late 60s soul album. The Gene Allison is a '59 R&B maroon VeeJay label. The Rumor is a mostly cheesy pop record with one funky jazz funk track and a couple of drum breaks. The Bobby Bland is a Duke pressing from I think '65. I also picked up a few other odds and ends like Baron Munchausen OST, Light in the Attic, Mad Men on the Rocks OST, Bob James, and a few other soul records.

One seller had a stack of Major Records library titles - does anyone know about those? They were $15 a piece and didn't want to blind buy them.

That's a heap o' bounty, Tex. Well played, sir. I must confess ignorance to your top row, but Rotary Connection, Willie Hutch, and Can are all fantastic. I must've worn out the neighborhood with that Rotary LP out when I first picked it up. Also, Bob James!!

I tried to send a pic, but for some reason I couldn't, so I am going to make an unfortunate list of this weeks purchases:

Soundtracks:

Jubilee
New Barbarians
1990: Bronx Warriors

and regular music:

Jesus Jones: Liquidiser
FKA Twigs: M3LL1335x
It Bites: The Boy in the Windmill
Gogos: Beauty and the Beat
Nirvana: Nevermind
Tad: Infrared Riding Hood
4 x Psychedelic Furs albums

... and now? Broke. (except for some sweet hidden RSD cash)

yeah... and today I went to a local record shop and fell on three more:

Eurythmics Greatest Hits
Grimes - Visions
Tkay Maizda - Tkay

Even more broker than before.

Happy, but dying for payday.

Stars on 45 from RSD 2017....

Unfortunately missing the TheThe 7-inch I most wanted... but still a few days to track it down before going the eBay route.

Pricing seems really random on 45's these days - this lot varied between £6 and £14. Was even charged £6 for one FK release and £13 for the other. Huh.

thewaystation wrote:Nice pickups, chief. That Esterno notte has so many insane tracks (the Baldan Bembo one, for example). Recently revisited the album when it featured in a dfc episode.
Agreed, that Bembo track is a gem.

Almost every track's a gem on that comp.

Here's my latest arrival. I've been duped into thinking I was buying the RSD Andromeda Strain, and instead I seem to have got a boot, which according to discogs is worth about £13.

Does anyone else have it, or heard it? I'm hoping I can get my money back, but it's more hope than expectation.

@chiefbrody

I was never aware that this title had been booted. This is the regular round version and not the fold-out hexi, correct? I got my RSD edition from Jackpot Records, the label that actually produced this new RSD version, still available for $41.99 right here. Hope you can get a refund on this.

Thanks for the additional info @blue

Update: the seller says it's a US reissue, and legit, but will take it back, which is fair enough.

The only other copies I can see for sale online are at HHV, and I wouldn't expect them to stock a boot.

If it was legit though, I'd expect it to be more widely available, and I'd be surprised if no-one on here had it, or had at least seen it. To avoid the hassle, I'd think about keeping it if it was genuine and sounded OK. As we say round here, I buy them to play them, not look at the covers.

Finally!

Zombi 3!

On 'very rare 180 gram ultra heavy audiophile exploitation vinyl' (heh!)

Was pre-order almost a year ago? Attractive looking package from the WRWTFWW guys just landed to devour & enjoy.

The Modfather Paul Weller released this new soundtrack for the boxer film Jawbone.

Trunk introduced me to this on his podcast and he gave it a 5/5 on RC mag. Great fault free press and solid quality all the way through.

Is it kinda rare that a new soundtrack is any good?
