People on facebook have really strange reactions to any announcement by DW or Mondo. They are very angry. It is strange.
Agreed! An odd place, that Facebook is. Wondrous World.

"Arigato gozaimasu" for explaining that, Spencer, as they say in your part of the world.

Does sound a bit crazy, and given subsequent merger, but if hands are tied...

Trust the Japanese crate diggin' is going well.... you're in for a treat!

One other thing I'd be interested to know about which I'm sure someone will know the answer to. Why are the on sale times always at a random time? Is this to do with computer stuff that I don't understand? It plays right into the hands of the professional vinyl flippers out there surely?

I couldn't make sense of this statement until I noticed the word "professional".

I'm obviously naive - I didn't know there were people who flipped full time. I knew there were professional ticket touts, but I hadn't thought about professional vinyl flippers, as I didn't think the market would be that big, even if the margins could be high per item. I assumed there were just people who found out about something being released in limited quantities and bought a couple of extras to make some money off of, or even just bought it only to make money - in which case, I would've thought having a fixed time would play into their hands, as they'd not need to waste as much time refreshing, etc.

I'm hoping to get the Deluxe, depending on cost. I would think most people will be able to get a copy today, even if it's not the version they want most. I can understand frustration for completists, but you can't blame any of the labels for licensing issues, and if the end result is you can put the needle down and hear the music, and it's a good pressing, what the cover looks like is hopefully relatively insignificant.

Yes
Honestly I banned our first ever person on Facebook last week due to excessive harrassment and language.
It actually makes me want to retire from having a presence online as it just gets tiring trawling through negative bullshit.

I hope you don't Spender, though I can imagine how tiring it is dealing with so many questions, emails, forum posts, etc - even just the positive ones. I think it's a big part of the appeal of the labels we have on here that they engage with their fans/customers in a way that makes a massive difference as collectors (e.g. the STBC film club/twitter viewing of Zombi 2 or the OWS vote for Boogeyman, and that's just this week).

The main reason why I am not in Facebook are the comments of a lot (not all - I know) of folks there.

I think there are going to be enough copies of each variant for everyone.

According to the info OWS posted on Discogs, the Deluxe Variant is limited to 1500, the Valentine Edition limited to 2000. And I can't imagine that the Mondo variant will have less than 1500 copies. In a month you will see e-bay or Discogs flooded with this release for normal prices.

I'm buying from OWS for sure. And later on the US variant through some other channel...

Facebook seems to be a cesspit of moaning twats. I saw the first comment left after a recent Death Waltz record announcement and the guy just wrote "crap" or something to that effect. Nothing else, no explanation why...just being a cock for no reason.

Spencers could announce free money and back rubs on Facebook and someone would complain. I love the announcements there but some commenters are ridiculous. Anyway, this release looks awesome from everybody!

Yeah, ignore the whingers and whiners Spencer....The vast majority of people are positive and appreciative of what you do.You'll always get negativity from some quarters, especially when things are not seemingly going 100 per cent their way. Seems to happen a lot in collecting circles. Onwards and upwards, I say!

Just want to share a small story with you guys on my special relation with this soundtrack :
After my wedding, there was a big party with family, friends...i made a special selection of tracks to be played while we were eating. It was mostly soft stuff, like 60's rock...this was a family event so no metal stuff. In my selection there was also Cannibal Holocaust's main theme (thought that it sounded great, and nobody would care anyway).
I think we were eating the main dish when the theme finally went on the air...and one of my 50 years old uncle came across the room to see me, and asked me "is that what i think it is?"
i answered "yes"
he had a small grin, some kind of disturbed laugh, and went back to his seat.

We never spoke about that event later...

I recently deleted my Facebook account as it was becoming too much of a time sink so I miss out on the DW announcements on there but yeah, have always amazed at how rude people can e, especially on Facebook. Love Spencer's Instagram stream though and was great to see the sleeve designs go up there. Seems to be much less negativity in comments on Instagram too.

I absolutely hate the movie but I think this release looks gorgeous and I can't wait to get it - probably all three versions if possible...

But yeah, the movie... some of those animal scenes (a turtle and a monkey getting their heads chopped off, if I remember correctly) are just too much for me. I think I read somewhere that they ate the animals afterwards, but that's only slightly redeeming in my opinion. I can't help feel they made these scenes primarily for entertainment purposes.

All the other gory stuff I have zero problem with :)

@Rasmus I'm with you on the animal snuff. Here in the UK I'm sure there is an edited version on DVD which cuts out the animal scenes but leaves the gore intact. As much as I love the violence and gore in Italian exploitation flicks and have done for a long time, the cannibal films cross a line when animals are slaughtered purely for the film. Its probably the only sub-genre I don't tend to re-watch despite having them in my film collection.

yeah, the animal stuff is why i've never been able to do it. did give the score samples a listen last night, really dug it. may not jump on this right away, but i think down the line i may pick it up.

Yeah, the film is revolting and crass - it's complete garbage but.......I still quite fancy the record!

no way. I think this movie great. I bought a VHS bootleg of it like in 2001. One of the few VHS tapes I still own.

I had an original VHS back in the mid 80s and ended up giving it to an American bloke who was obsessed with war and gore in general - even he hated it but perhaps I should give it another go. I remember it was the total lack of humour that really turned me off.

Have to say, without the animal scenes I think it's a great film, the best of all the cannibal flicks in my humble opinion. The soundtrack is amazing and OWS/DW could have released this with a picture of Gary Glitter on the cover and I would have still bought it.

The Grindhouse release allows you view the films without the animal killing, which of course, I prefer.
